Welcome to my Tokyo food journey!
Veganic To Go – 六本木のヴィーガンカフェ。本物の美味しさと健康がここに。 was our first meal stop for our first time in Tokyo, Japan.
It was hot. We were tired. Jet lagged. Hungry. Coming here entailed a long walk. But it was worth it. Good food.
Vegan and macrobiotic. You’ll read a lot “macrobiotic” here on 🙂
It’s essentially a holistic style of eating, with whole grains, local vegetables and produce. Though essentially pescetarian, most vegan places also provide for the macrobiotic diet which was developed in Japan during the Edo period. It essentially recommends foods that balance the yin-yang and surprisingly eliminates
It’s simple and clean cooking, so you won’t get a whole burst of flavors, but you can be assured that it’ll be all guilt-free eating 🙂
We ordered a bean burger with hemp bread, a coconut curry and a fried soymeat entree with rice.
Another observation with my meals here has been that the portion sizes are fairly small. In the United States, where it sometimes would be good for two people, just one lunch set / meal left us asking for a little bit more. Guess that’s the trick to being healthy as well 🙂
