Sea Wolf

Sea Wolf or Atlantic wolffish is a marine fish of the wolffish family Anarhichadidae. Their numbers are rapidly depleting and is a big concern for the marine fisheries service. I’ll stop insights from Wikipedia here.

Sea Wolf is also a restaurant based in the industrial part of Brooklyn. Established in April 2016, Sea Wolf was born from a love of fishing, surf and skate culture, and a deep responsibility towards supporting local fisheries and sustainable farming practices.

Sea Wolf is Bushwick’s own little surf shack for herbivores & omnivores alike. With daily specials, a full bar featuring a selection of rotating frozen cocktails and a focus on fresh ingredients, this is a ‘vivacious’ place to visit.

I’m glad for my love for food and writing that gets me invited to places like these, that I wouldn’t have otherwise visited. The vibe of the place is very cool, if I may. High ceilings, big windows, surfing stuff adorn the place, cute little lights, music to match that mood – all the makings of a ‘hip’ place.

They have a whole array of vegetarian options for a seafood place – from pastas to burgers to sandwiches to vegetables and salads.

I loved their vegetarian burger, hearty with beans and vegetables, a perfectly soft bun and perfectly melted cheese.  I’d highly recommend this.

Other things I sampled were their roasted cauliflower salad with gruyere cheese, walnuts, watercress, sherry vinaigrette and oil and it was good. It was a good mix of flavors – salt, sweet (a little much with the vinaigrette), cheese and crunch.

The black kale salad had similar balance with apples, cheddar, toasted almonds and balsamic vinegar.

On the side, I had to try the vegan sausage. This was my first time trying it and I wasn’t sure what to make of it. It had a touch of some cinnamon, cardamom or nutmeg spice and wasn’t as savory tasting as I’d imagined it to be.

The burger deserves a mention again – perfectly melted cheese and such a picturesque burger 😉
