This wouldn’t have been on my radar. Thanks to a friend (R) who works not far from here and likes this place. The friend’s husband is the ‘main’ friend (S) – that’s how I made this other friend who’s the friend’s wife – don’t get confused :p
So R carried the basbousa or the semolina cake from here for S and he really liked it and when we met for lunch at
Hao Noodle and Tea by Madam Zhu’s Kitchen | bonvivant, S suggested trying this place out.
As I mentioned in my last post, this was the Wednesday of the week of my staycation and I was more than willing to travel to Brooklyn to eat. Yeah, 1.5 hours travel, 1.5 hours eat, 1.5 hours travel back. Pretty much what I did Tuesday through Friday last week.
The place was very good. Pita’s made in-house, to order. New York cheap prices. Great tastes. A lot of variety. Plenty of vegetarian options.
The harira soup was one thing I hadn’t tried before, and it was nice and creamy. And while I’m not a fan of celery, it didn’t overpower in this bowl of soup here.
And the basbousa does deserve a mention. Perfect for those who don’t want extra sweet desserts. Light and airy.
