Yerba Buena (East Village)

A few weeks back, I was invited to an event by LoveBeginsAt (Over the Supper club) and Dishcrawl at Yerba Buena in east village.

http://www.lovebeginsat.com/ is a social dating platform for singles in their 40s and beyond. This concept of socializing over supper is an effort to bring people together in a more back-to-basics and personable way in this age of technology where people don’t care to look up from their gadgets to say hi. And what better, than to get together over supper and a glass of wine!

I was feeling a bit nervous on attending this event, but was pleasantly relieved on having found another fellow blogger who was there to cover the event, as well, through Dishcrawl.

I keep harping on the fact that I love meeting new people, and this was again, one of those evenings. I and the other fellow blogger sat with a group of six people and enjoyed our conversation. They had set tables nicely, but there wasn’t much mobility, once you sat yourselves. I was expecting a more mobile and social set up, but this, I thought gave you a good chance to qualitatively interact with a bunch of people for a decent amount of time.

They had a three course menu, and you could buy your own drinks. Being a vegetarian, the chef gladly accommodated me hot and toasty empanadas for appetizers, excellent noodles for the entree and a not so great tres leches cake for dessert. If you wondered why I got noodles for dinner at a Latin restaurant, well, Yerba Buena is more of Latin American fusion with Peruvian influences.

Here’s what I ate!
